A companion to the Rocker compilation, Return of the Rocker presented material recorded by Elvis in the early ’60s. Elvis was moderating his sound in this period, so even the rockier stuff wasn’t as hard as what he had recorded in the ’50s. But songs like “Little Sister,” “A Mess of Blues,” and “Return to Sender” still maintained Elvis’ standard for up-tempo Rock N’ Roll, and this is some of the best material Elvis recorded in the decade.
